Would you like your learner to be motivated to really care about Spanish speakers? Excellent! Yes, this is a beginner Spanish language class; at the same time, a main goal of a language class is to communicate with people, so we should focus on the people. As your Spanish tutor, I feel this is important. This way we can soar with Spanish! This Spanish class includes learning Spanish culture, conversation and language. As a tutor, I'll guide students to learn common phrases so that we can have easy conversations with Spanish speakers. The teaching style can allow for the students to express themselves and also interact with one another. There are many Spanish-speaking cultures, which include different vocabulary, customs and more. For example, there are different cultures in just one country such as Mexico! You'll see differences and similarities also if you compare Mexico to Argentina. Many Spanish-speaking cultures are social, and music, food and dance are popular. Many Spanish speakers have left their homes from other countries to look for work. Also, not all know how to read and write in Spanish like we do in English. If you live in the United States or Canada, it may be that Spanish speakers from your area come from Guatemala, El Salvador or Honduras. Or maybe they are from Cuba or Puerto Rico. It's reasonable to say they may be happy when people can speak their language. What would you like to learn during this Spanish class? Please tell me, and we can try to include it into our lessons! Structure: Group ***Topics*** Beginner Spanish 1 (7 to 10 year olds) • Greetings and Introductions (with family vocabulary); weeks 1-3 • Alphabet (with classroom vocabulary); weeks 4-6 • Colors; week 7 • Numbers and Time (clock); weeks 8-10 • Miscellaneous; weeks 11-12 • Review and plans; week 13 ***Topics in More Details*** In each class, I like to include part of the content being what's on the students minds by translating that into Spanish. This makes the Spanish more interesting, relevant and easier to remember for the students. In addition, I incorporate sentence structure and grammar to varying degrees. In my lessons I screenshare so students can see what we are saying and learning, typed in Spanish. I also like to use a mixture of classroom instruction along with breakout rooms for efficiency and effectiveness.
