Sketching is a time honored way of creating art, it helps create familiarity and comfort with artistic tools, builds speed in getting down a scene or idea, and grows observation skills. Additionally it provides an inexpensive and an approachable format to explore many different scenes, color palettes, and styles. This class is very relaxed, and where I try to provide a space for creativity, and encourage students to follow their instinct while drawing, even if it differs from what I am doing....

Students will improve their sketching skills through learning to break down an image into simple shapes, see lines, and observation.

- Multi media sketch book (or sketchbook with good thick smooth paper. I will be using a sketchbook which is 5.5”x8.5” in size, with 80lb thickness of paper) - Drawing pencil, mechanical/wooden or both - Colored pencils, pens, markers, crayons, watercolors - Black pen (I will be using Muji brand ball point, you can find it on Amazon) - Medium size round paint brush
