課堂經歷
In this relaxed club, students are invited to come socialize with other simmers as we each play our own game. We will talk about our sims and their families, about our house designs and decorations, about different sims challenges we like, and can even share screenshots of our sims. Students can also let others know when they find secrets hidden around the game and help others find them, - If they want help. No spoilers, please. If your learner wants to play a different version of the Sims, rather than Sims 4, that's fine, too. Just keep in mind that, if you're playing the PC or Mac versions of the game, you'll either need a computer that can run both the game and Zoom simultaneously, or a separate device to run the class from. ___________________________________ My Teaching Style: Demonstration and communication are my favorite tools to use in class. Playing together, whether in-person or over video-chat, is an incredible way to build social skills, and I feel this class would be beneficial for homeschoolers and unschoolers, as well as any student who loves to voice their ideas and bounce them off of others. I generally try to keep students unmuted, except in the case of noisy backgrounds, and all students are welcome to ask questions at any time. I will be showing my own game in a screenshare so I can help any struggling players by showing them how to do something if they need it. ___________________________________ Class expectations: As is Outschool policy, I do not allow bullying or teasing. Everyone is welcome in my classroom and learning is always something to be encouraged. I do not ask students to remain on camera for more than the initial class check-in required by Outschool policy. If your learner has any unique needs to be accomodated, please let me know! I'm happy to help and want this class to be as fun and imaginative as possible for every student. ___________________________________ Required Experience: No experience is required, and even beginner simmers and video gamers are welcome in this class.

Students will be playing the video game, the Sims 4. They will be talking to each other as they play, but each student will have their own, separate game. We will not be playing in any kind of multiplayer mode.
This game is basically an interactive dollhouse. Students can create their sims, dress them up, buy or build a house for them, decorate their house, and then go out into the world to make friends, get married, get a job, or even go fishing. The game includes a lot of different elements, and the list only grows longer when you add any of the many expansion packs and DLCs. Even though I've been playing since 2017 there are still a lot of sections in the game I haven't seen yet, so here is a link to the Common Sense Media page discussing it, so you can make an informed decision about what exactly is there.

I will also be showing my game in a screen-share, so I can help any student who's having a hard time finding things or anyone who wants to use cheat codes to play a more relaxed version of the game without all the time constraints.
