Students will learn about different types of tea, the history of tea and tea parties, and it's social and political impact.  Discussions of the Boston Tea Party, and how tea impacts the economy will lead the student to understand it's economic force.  
Students will learn to brew tea, and discover how the English "dress" their tea with milk and sugar.
Students will create decorative finger sandwiches, English scones and be given a recipe for clotted cream.
Students will also learn how tea parties are used for fundraisers and different types of events.

For years as an educator I have had an opportunity to take students and parents alike overseas.  I have experienced traditional tea parties in China, Japan and even Paris.  My family regularly partakes in tea parties and I have hosted many tea party events.  I am a huge fan of all things vintage tea party, including clothing, tea cups and recipes.

If possible students should take a trip to a local tea store and look at loose teas.  Have the smell the tea, and learn about the different flavor combinations.
