**It is recommended that your learner has had previous experience with the symbols used in the "Function of Words" lessons in a Montessori environment. If not already familiar with these symbols, I encourage learners to take the "Montessori Grammar Parts of Speech Series" 4 week course with me before registering for the "Silly Sentences" ongoing class. Students should have access to the physical grammar symbols and the ability to print and cut out a pdf file of words to start their silly...
Learners will review: - that nouns can be people, places, or things - that adjectives are words that describe nouns - that the three basic articles in English are "a," "an," and "the" - that a verb is an action - that adverbs add to verbs by telling how the action is done - that prepositions "bridge" nouns from one to another - that pronouns take the place of nouns in a sentence - that conjunctions act like glue or gum to stick ideas together - that interjections jump into sentences abruptly In addition, learners will learn to work with Montessori grammar symbols to label and create sentences.
I hold a Master of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Literacy. I was trained in the Montessori method for elementary ages.
