This class focuses on the short vowel sounds of a, e, i, o, u. Short vowel knowledge is fundamental to reading success because it underpins the basic phonics skills needed to decode words. When children grasp short vowel sounds, they can break down words into their component sounds, making it easier to blend and identify words accurately. This skill is essential for developing fluency in reading, as recognizing and pronouncing short vowel sounds correctly helps with word recognition and spelling. Letter-sound correspondences will be introduced through simple CVC words; sound/blend

Fun story to solidify joy and excitement in reading and to check comprehension. 課 2:
Short Vowel Ee
Phonemic & Phonological Awareness:
Activities with rhyming, blending, segmenting, and manipulating sounds. Students will learn to identify the short e sound with a song, and to identify words with the short e sound by engaging in fun matching activities.
Phonics & Word Recognition:
Letter-sound correspondences will be introduced through simple CVC words; sound/blend
