What Will Be Taught?
This class introduces students to video sensing, an exciting feature in Scratch that allows players to control a game using physical gestures. Through hands-on coding, students will:
- Learn how motion detection works in Scratch.
- Code a Fruit Ninja-inspired game where objects fly across the screen, and players slice them with real hand movements.
- Add game mechanics like score tracking, game-over conditions, and sound effects.
- Customize their game with different fruit sprites, speeds, and special effects!

By the end of class, every student will have a fully functional game they can play by simply moving their hands in front of their webcam!

Class Structure
- Introduction (5 mins) – Meet your instructor and get a quick overview of what we’ll build.
- Exploring Video Sensing (10 mins) – Learn how Scratch detects motion and experiment with video sensing.
- Building the Game (20 mins) – Code the gameplay mechanics, add fruit, and program slicing interactions.
- Customization & Final Touches (10 mins) – Personalize the game, add sound effects, and test it out!
- Wrap-up & Playtime (5 mins) – Share your game with classmates, ask questions, and discuss what else can be added.
