A class for the curious learner and science-minded with a twist toward discussion and critical thinking.... Discover new relevant topics related to science, technology, and engineering in this weekly class. What is going on in the world anyway? What are the latest advances in space exploration? Where are most catastrophic natural disasters and how are scientists implementing change? How is artificial intelligence being employed in everyday life? Where are the latest artifacts of ancient civilizations being discovered and what do they tell us about early life on earth? Enjoy a wide range of topics that vary from week to week depending on the big stories at the time. We will read an article, watch a few video clips on latest events, and come together to discuss the main points and consider the implications they present to our lives. Topics may include geology, chemistry, biology, physics, zoology, geography, technology, engineering, and more! Students are encouraged to participate in class discussions on key points pulled from the material. Class will begin with an introduction to the weekly topic and follow up with student-led talking points. Improve your critical thinking skills while embarking on a world of discovery! Students will explore new topics they may or may not be familiar with and develop their critical thinking skills as we begin weekly discussions.Students will build self confidence as they share their viewpoints on topics.

Some students may be sensitive to some topics. Just like worldwide news topics, some science- related topics are more advanced in nature. Topics like stem cell research, artificial intelligence, unethical mining, etc. may present ideas that younger students may not be ready for. Please make sure your child is open to ideas being presented and is willing to participate.
