In this hands-on science class, students will explore concepts dealing with physical science, earth science, and life science. Each session will include a lesson on the science topic for the day, presented on slides and video. Then they will perform a science experiment that is relevant to the topic. All experiments will use plastic sandwich size bags and other materials that are easily obtained from around the house. Students will record their observations and experiment results on a log sheet and reflect on their results, just like the real scientists they are! In addition to Understanding the Scientific Method, our topics and projects include: 1. Physical Science: Need a Lift? / A lesson on using air to do work. 2. Earth Science: The Water Cycle 3. Life Science: From Seed to Sprout 4. Earth Science: Exploring Ocean Currents 5. Physical Science: Ice Cube Race 6. Life Science: The Big Squeeze

All activities will need plastic sandwich-size zipper style bags and some additional materials. All materials are easily available around the house, such as paper towels, toothpicks, water, etc. Materials list for all lessons will be posted with Lesson #1.
