Join me in this ongoing class as we discuss a different graphic novel each week. 

Book discussions are a great way to foster a love of reading and lay the foundations for future literary analysis. Students will be encouraged to share their ideas, thoughts, and conclusions about various aspects of the book. We'll discuss plot elements, characters, themes, the artist's style, and more. 

During our meeting, I will facilitate a relaxed, roundtable discussion and make sure everyone has a chance to share their ideas. I'll guide the students as they express their own opinions and listen to the opinions of others. Learning to support your ideas from literature is the foundation of literary analysis, so our book club will give everyone the opportunity to practice in a comfortable atmosphere.

The first half of our meeting will be spent discussing the story. We'll discuss various aspects of the plot such as characters, opening hook, setting, climax, and more. The second half of our meeting will focus on the graphics. We'll discuss creative panels, interesting fonts, different conversation bubbles, and other choices by the illustrator to use art to tell the story.

Students should read the assigned graphic novel(s) prior to the meeting date. Each week will be a new discussion and there is no need to have attended previous classes. Feel free to join us anytime!
