每週 1 小時. 📝 Homework will be assigned weekly. Given the self-paced nature of this (pre-recorded) class, completion of assignments is required before advancing to subsequent lessons. This ensures that prior content is thoroughly understood as it will be revisited at the beginning of each class. Learners will be able to share their completed assignments through Outschool's messaging system or by posting on the Outschool Classroom. Week 1 - Plant Power: An Introduction to Plants Create a poster featuring different types of plants (trees, flowers, grasses, etc.). Label their basic parts (roots, stems, leaves, flowers) and write a paragraph about why each plant is important. Week 2 - A Life Cycle Adventure: From Seed to Plant 💻 Create a digital slideshow or a video journal documenting the life cycle of a plant. Include pictures or drawings of each stage (seed, germination, growth, flowering, pollination, seed production). Narrate or write short descriptions explaining each stage. Week 3 - A Photosynthesis Party: How Plants Make Food From Sunlight 🪴Draw a diagram of the photosynthesis process, including the sun, water, carbon dioxide, and oxygen. Write a short paragraph explaining what photosynthesis is and why it’s important for plants. Week 4 - Habitat Hunt: Exploring Plant Homes ✂️ Choose one plant habitat (forest, desert, wetland, grassland) and create a collage using pictures from magazines or printouts. Include images of plants and animals that live in that habitat and write a few sentences about how plants adapt to that environment. Week 5 - Nutrient Ninjas: Plant Nutrition and Water Transport 🔬 Conduct a simple experiment at home: place a white flower or celery stalk in colored water and observe how the color moves through the plant. Record your observations and draw pictures of what you see each day. Week 6 - The Plant Reproduction Race: Seed & Beyond 💥 Create a comic book depicting a plant’s journey from seed to mature plant. Include details about its pollination and seed production. Week 7 - Plants & Animal Pals: Nature's Best Friends ➡️ Create a food chain diagram that includes at least three plants and three animals. Write a short explanation of how plants and animals depend on each other for food and shelter. Week 8 - Green Guardians: Protecting Our Plants 📋 Make a list of five ways you can help protect plants in your community. Choose one action from your list to complete, and write a short paragraph about what you did and why it’s important for plant conservation.評估
💻 Diagnostic questioning is used at the the start of the course. This is where specific questions are used to assess students' prior knowledge, understanding and misconceptions about a topic before instruction begins. 📋Formative (on-going) assessment are conducted throughout the duration of the course. Weekly quizzes are administered in class to assess student understanding of the material. In week 6 of our exciting science course on plants 'The Plant Reproduction Race: Seed & Beyond', we will be exploring the fascinating topic of plant reproduction. This lesson will cover both sexual and asexual reproduction methods in plants. While I aim to present this content in a respectful and age-appropriate manner, I understand that some families may prefer to discuss the terminology used (in the context of plants) with their children directly in advance. Please review the lesson materials beforehand; I am happy to address any questions or concerns you may have.
✂️ On a seperate note, scissors will need to be used to complete some of the homework assignments which will require parental supervision.
