Due to the vastness of options in Dungeons and Dragons, students will learn and exercise many skills, including the following: -communication -strategy and tactics -storytelling -critical thinking -teamwork -problem solving -conflict resolution -resolutions of ethical and moral dilemmas -math and reading fluency
I have spent much time playing in and running Dungeons and Dragons campaigns. I also have much experience teaching D&D to new players. As far as teaching children goes, I've spent over a decade teaching ages 8-18 in the classroom and have served in many roles from Master Teacher to Curriculum Developer to Network Trainer to Academy Headmaster (all with Great Hearts Academies).

Though there is combat in this game, it is described in words, not images. I will also ask and require students to be conscious of their descriptions, avoiding anything grotesque or inhumane.
To prepare and run this course, I will use my experience and knowledge of (as well as references to) "The Player's Handbook", "The Dungeon Master's Guide", "The Monster Manual." We will use the adventure "Rime of the Frostmaiden." I will also use many other resources I've developed over the years.
