This course is for any student that is interested in learning the basics of rhythm! We will learn about the musical "beat" as well as some basic rhythmic patterns. This class is taught in a small group, so it is designed for learners to interact during various class activities. Students will have the opportunity to respond to questions by speaking, drawing, as well as clapping. We will use the whiteboard as well as worksheets and videos to keep class fun and engaging. Students will be able to read and identify rhythm patterns using the first 4 note values. They will be able to clap what they see as well as write what they hear by the end of the course.
In my many years of teaching, I have developed a wide range of techniques when it comes to teaching rhythm. Students learn in various ways, however, a solid understanding of rhythm is vital when it comes to learning a musical instrument. I believe that a fun and engaging approach is most effective!
Worksheets will be provided in the classroom. Students can print and complete them as practice in between classes.
