In this one-time course, learners will engage with a geologist to explore the world of renewable resources. Specifically, we will discuss solar, hydro, and wind power as sustainable energy sources and the advantages and disadvantages of each source. Learners will gain an understanding of how each source of energy is created and the complexity involved in its creation. We will also compare renewable energy resource production and consumption to that of fossil fuel (non-renewable) production...
Learners will be able to describe solar, hydro, and wind energy and how they are each created. Learners will understand the difference between non-renewable energy and renewable energy. Learners will be able to give examples of renewable energy sources in daily life. Learners will be able to identify advantages and disadvantages of renewable energy.
As a geologist, I am able to give learners the ability to understand how we use our resources and ways in which they may be able to make changes to their lives and incorporate sensible and reasonable choices in the area of energy usage. This is not a politically motivated class and adheres to providing information for each learner so that they are able to make educated decisions in their lives. It is a class based on information.
