In this one-time course, learners will engage with a geologist to explore the world of renewable resources. Specifically, we will discuss solar, hydro, and wind power as sustainable energy sources and the advantages and disadvantages of each source. Learners will gain an understanding of how each source of energy is created and the complexity involved in its creation. We will also compare renewable energy resource production and consumption to that of fossil fuel (non-renewable) production and consumption. Learners will be encouraged to participate via question and answer and discussion as we navigate through our lecture. Although it is not required, it is recommended that learners enroll in the course on non-renewable energy first so that they can understand the complexity involved in the transition into renewable energy and the ways that scientists and engineers approach this while maintaining our lives.
