  • Goals are specific to each reader.
I am a licensed and highly qualified teacher for grades 2-9, with degrees in early childhood, elementary, and middle school level education. I was a Head Start teacher for ten years before becoming a public school teacher. I have additional training in teaching reading and was named reading teacher of the year twice as a classroom teacher.

細節: Suggestions for extending the lesson are included in a summary of each week's lesson after class. Lesson summary handouts are included for phonics-level readers.
I love to work with kids who have struggled to learn to read, often it is because they need increased repetition or a slower pace to each lesson. Please let me know in advance of class your learner's individual needs. 
Prior to class please let me know what level of reading your goals in reading are for your learner.  If you have any current reading-level information or concerns, please include those. 
Beginner readers: a whiteboard with markers, and Banagram letter tiles (or generic ABC tiles).

Advanced readers: colored Flair pens and paper, small notebook if desired for vocabulary and word morhology
Some learners may read passages to practice fluency and comprehension. The reading passages will be at an appropriate age level for your learner. 
Please let me know if there are specific topics that you do not want your learner to read about in class.
