Welcome to an ongoing tutoring class designed to foster fluent reading skills in your student. Reading fluency involves complex skills such as phonological awareness, phoneme segmentation, blending, recognizing sight words, and isolation. These skills form a stepping stone for proficient reading, and addressing any learning blocks in these areas is pivotal to preventing future reading difficulties. - Phonemic Awareness I will identify and manipulate individual sounds in spoken words. I will blend sounds to form words and segment words into individual sounds.
- Phonics I will understand the relationship between letters and sounds. I will decode and spell words using common letter-sound patterns.
- Fluency I will read with accuracy, proper pace, and expression. I will recognize and read high-frequency words automatically.
- Spelling I will spell words correctly using phonics and spelling patterns.
