During this one time class, we will read a Mo Willems story from the Piggie & Elephant series. Students will actively participate reading aloud and providing a voice for these two lovable characters, Piggie & Elephant. Students will have opportunities to read and reread the text to improve both fluency and prosody (the stress and intonation on words). After students complete the reading of the book, we will discuss the characters, the setting, the plot, and other comprehension questions....
Students will be able to read sentences with fluency. Students will be able to read with prosody. Students will be able to make connections between self and text.
I am a reading and special education teacher. I have worked with children from ages 4 - 10 in an elementary school setting before teaching online classes. I am also trained in the Orton-Gillingham method for reading & spelling.
