In this self-paced course, we will review basic letter sounds and simple CVC words, blending strategies for CVC/CCVC/CVCC words, plus learn some simple consonant blends, digraphs, high frequency words, reading simple sentences and more! Students are encouraged to join the class that best fits their skill level and educational needs. For help determining this, feel free to contact me. A self-paced coursedoes not rely on live meetings but instead has videos, worksheets and other posts in the OutSchool classroom. This is ideal for learning to read because your child can practice over and over again and every child can learn at their own pace. On Mondays I will post a short video and worksheets introducing the sounds and sight words for that week. We will work together to build words, identify words that contain the different sounds, have fun rhyming and practice simple blending and segmenting strategies to build a good foundation for reading. Every Friday I will post a game or activity and a video as needed to help review what we learned during the week. This may include a scavenger hunt, picture sort, bingo and more. Students can look forward to sharing what they did each week and will be able to post pictures to the classroom to show off what they learned! ⭐ Students should know all their letter names and sounds and be able to independently read CVC words before joining this class. Please see my other listings for help with this. ⭐ If you are not receiving emails about posts to the classroom after the first couple days in class, please check your emails SPAM folder. Often messages from OutSchool end up there and get lost. ⭐ Students will need crayons, paper and printouts of the provided worksheets. Students will also need access to "Bob Books Set 4: Complex Words." These can be purchased at Amazon (link below) or may be available to checkout at your local library (hard copy or digital). 教師專業知識和證書
I hold a bachelor’s degree in special education, along with additional training in teaching the arts and TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). With over 20 years of experience working with children, I’ve been a certified teacher, a homeschool mom, and an educator for diverse age groups and subjects. My teaching background spans from severe-profound special education preschool to honors high school, but my greatest passion lies in the arts and creative education. I specialize in drawing, brick building, elementary literacy, special education, and baking—I even own a small bakery!
Art has always been close to my heart, and I love exploring various mediums, including drawing, paper crafts, oil paints, and acrylics. Art is not just a form of expression but also a way to build creativity and confidence. In my teaching, I focus on developing skills, exploring techniques, and inspiring others to find joy in creating unique works of art.
Reading and writing are equally important to me. I enjoy delving into different genres and using storytelling to spark imagination. Teaching literacy allows me to help students express themselves while building essential skills. My goal is to make reading exciting and writing an empowering form of creativity.
Baking is another passion I’m thrilled to share. Teaching baking classes allows me to bring people together through the joy of creating something delicious. From learning essential techniques to exploring creative recipes, I strive to make every class approachable, fun, and rewarding.
Outside the classroom, my husband and I enjoy adventures with our three children, whether camping, hiking, visiting the park, doing arts and crafts, or playing board games as a family.
I can’t wait to bring creativity and joy to our class—see you soon!
