This camp is for students who love to read. We will read a short story: "The Million Pound Bank Note" by Mark Twain. Students will do the reading assignments outside of the class, though we will read segments together during our discussions. In addition to reading assignments for home work, there are brief writing assignments and a creative final project. We will have brief lectures, group discussions and small group work. Students will be able to: ~identify and analyze elements of suspense ~identify and explain author's word choice in development of suspense ~identity the seven plot elements ~identify and discuss the various elements of character development ~identify tone and mood ~identify various literary devices and elements and analyze their impact on the plot and character development ~write brief summaries of specific passages of the text ~compare and contrast short stories

Students will read the short story for homework, though we will read passages aloud in class. They will also have a short writing assignment for each class. Students will complete a final project to be shared during the last class. This will be a "one-pager" and will be explained during the first class.1 - 2 每週課外時間

Students will need a hard copy, or digital version of "The Million Pound Bank Note" by Mark Twain. These story is readily available on the internet in a free PDF version. The student must be able to annotate the text, either using a printed hard copy or digitally annotate a digital version.
