As a parent it can be difficult to know how to help your child with home reading. It can also be a challenge to fit it into busy schedules. This read to me class gives your child a chance to read to an experienced teacher a couple of times a week and have tailored tips and skills taught to them. 

I will listen to your child read and ask questions to improve their comprehension. Along the way, I will offer them tips and advice for reading unknown words. I will attend to your child's fluency and help them to improve their oral reading skills. If necessary, I can offer them practice work at their level such as fluency passages. 

I will ask you to let me know what books your learner is reading so I can read along with them. 

We will work on:
* Fluency and reading rate
* Expression when reading
* Decoding skills (how to attack new/unfamiliar words)
* Comprehension (do they understand what they are reading?)

I offer a fun and friendly approach to teaching. I encourage early and reluctant readers by making reading a positive experience, even though it may be a difficult skill for your learner. I am able to explicitly teach children how to read unknown words and pay attention to punctuation when reading.
