In this engaging and dynamic class, students will be taught the essential skills of public speaking and debate, with a specific focus on the public forum debate format. The class will cover a variety of topics including argument construction, research techniques, effective delivery, rebuttal strategies, and the nuances of public forum debate rules and procedures. The structure of the class is designed to maximize student participation and practice. Each session will begin with a brief lecture to introduce key concepts and theories, followed by interactive speaking drills and games that encourage students to practice and hone their skills in a supportive environment. My teaching style is hands-on and interactive; I believe in learning by doing, so my lectures will be concise to allow more time for student-led discussions, debates, and practice sessions. Learners will have ample opportunities to interact with me and their peers through various activities including structured debates, peer feedback sessions, and group discussions. Additionally, I will use multimedia tools such as slides and video clips to illustrate important points and provide real-world examples.
