This class is ideal for students who have an interest in the beginnings of psychology, and the science of how we learn. No prior experience is needed, only an interest in learning about research related to learning and how to apply the findings to academics. Because research says students learn better when relaxed, learners will not be called on. Participation is welcomed, but never demanded. Opportunities for participation are provided in the form of chat box polls. We'll cover the...
1] Student will learn the foundational principles of learning psychology. 2] Students will learn about three early psychologists and the ground-breaking experiments each conducted to help us understand how we learn. 3] Students will learn about the findings of two more recent bodies of research on how we learn. 4] Students will learn at least five strategies, based on the experiment findings, to use to improve their academic performance.
I have a B.A. in Sociology and a M.Ed. in Community Counseling. I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. I have also taught Introduction to Psychology and Sociology to college freshman.

Pen/Paper (Students may wish to take notes, specifically on the strategies they can use in their studying and schoolwork). There is a class outline provided that students can download and use to take notes or just follow along.
