Weekly lessons may include guidance with vocal technique (posture, breath support, anatomy, etc.), lyric writing, melody writing, music theory, and stage performance techniques. Each lesson is custom tailored to meet the unique needs of each student, supporting their strengths and developing areas needing strengthened. When practicing vocal technique, students may be asked to sing original songs or songs written by other songwriters. Typically, students will select a song of their choice one week and the instructor chooses the song the following week. This continues week to week so students can work on music that interests them and the teacher can assign material to work on areas that need specific development. Lessons may include listening and writing activities. Be sure to bring a notebook and pencil to every lesson. Students will be expected to do daily warm-ups and rehearse songs between lessons to maintain progress. At home work will vary depending on the focus of the student. When focusing on lyric writing, students may have daily/weekly exercises to develop lyric writing skills. When focused on music theory, students will need to review theory lesson content. If a student plays an instrument in addition to singing, the student may need to reference that instrument while reviewing lesson content. In order to have the best lesson experience, students should choose the following Zoom audio settings: -Select Original Sound for Musicians. (Make sure this setting is then turned on in the top left side of the screen). Doing this allows your voice and any accompaniment to be heard. Zoom has excellent filters to remove coughs, scooting chairs, etc. and that will sometimes filter sounds we want to hear during our lesson. -Enable echo cancellation. (This is usually the default.) If students need assistance, audio settings can be set up at the start of our first lesson.

Rachel Hoffman grew up in a musical family. She began studying music formally at the age of five and has honed her skills through many years of voice lessons, piano lessons, choirs, ensembles, solo performances, vocal competitions, and by studying at the prestigious Berklee College of Music where she received her Bachelor of Music degree with honors. As a Professional Music major, she specialized in Songwriting, Vocal Performance and Private Studio Instruction.
Rachel moved to Nashville, TN in 1998 to work for Warner-Chappell Music Publishing. Since that time, she has taught private lessons, performed in and around town, taught songwriting, music theory and performance techniques in high schools and homeschool cooperatives and runs her award-winning, research-based early childhood music business. She believes that music benefits everyone and strives to keep lessons and classes accessible to all whether they are 100 minutes or 100 years old.
Music is just one language that Rachel loves. She has also studied English, Chinese, and Spanish. She completed the TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) program in 2019 and has taught English to more than 500 young English learners since! When she is not teaching, you might find her baking, engaged in a DIY project, or playing with her dog, Lewis.評論
