Is your child interested in learning Python, but looking for more personal attention or custom lessons?

 As an experienced Computer Science teacher, I have worked with hundreds of students who have learned Python to create their own programs and games.  I love working with students where they are at to draw out their interests and build their skills.
Your learner's goals will be customized based on their previous experience, their age, their typing speed and their own goals for programming.  Some possible projects include text-based games and activities, data analysis and graphing, and creating graphical games.  In a one-to-one lesson, I am able to work at your learner's pace, which often results in completing more code in a shorter amount of time.  In addition, I can teach at your child's developmental level, so that they are sure to master the material.

In the first lesson, we will develop some goals for your learner, whether they are brand new or an advanced programmer, and we will work toward those goals.  You choose the frequency and duration of the lessons, and we will decide on the scheduling through a conversation.  It is recommended that your child is able to type prior to starting these lessons.

Some possible long-term goals:
-Learn to make computer games (text-based or graphical)
-Learn to make art with the computer
-Learn to solve programming competition problems
-Learn to make software to solve a specific problem
-Learn the joy of writing code!

I am a very enthusiastic and dynamic teacher, and will teach by modelling on my screen, but will have your child code and solve problems to learn the material.  I will ask your child many questions to ensure understanding of the material.  I am very open to feedback as the lessons progress.

Note: 30 or 60 minute sessions are available.  Please indicate your preference when we make the arrangements.
