每週 1-2 小時. Learners are asked, if possible, to provide monologues or scenes that they would like to work on together. If needed, I can make suggestions for material. Learners are also asked to memorize their monologues or lines, which assists greatly with the learning process for actors.

課堂經歷

Join me in one on one acting lessons to find your unique voice as an actor through exploring monologues, scenes, and audition preparation work!

I have been a professional actor for over thirteen years and have experience in many areas of the profession, including theatre, film, television, and commercial work. I was fortunate enough to have great teachers throughout my training and would love to pass on the knowledge I've obtained to future actors. I have experience coaching students of all ages in ways to better improve their performances. I received my Bachelor Degree in Theatre and my Master of Fine Arts Degree in Performing Arts.

In this class, learners have the option of exploring monologues, preparing for an audition, working on scenes, or other acting goals that they may have. I can assist with determining these goals to help each learner grow as an actor.

If a learner chooses to workshop a monologue, they are asked to come to class with a monologue or text that is 30 seconds to one minute in length. (A monologue is a short section of text that is spoken by one character.) Memorization is not required but is encouraged. If the learner does not have a prepared monologue ready, I can provide one that I wrote or make suggestions. Monologues do not have to come from a play. Learners can memorize a poem, write their own piece, or pull from any text that could be performed. Feel free to be creative! We will rehearse the monologue in order to find and make fun and creative choices for each performance.

If learners choose to bring a scene, we'll read through it together, and I will assist the learner in finding different ways to approach the character. A scene is a section of spoken text or dialogue that involves two or more characters.

If a learner is auditioning for an upcoming role, we can work through sections of the script and help prepare them for the audition.

We will begin class with a warm-up or game that will strengthen our imaginations, focus, energy, voice, and body. Following the warm-up, each student will perform what they have prepared, and I will provide feedback to help enhance their performance.

Imagination exercise example:
1.) "Do the piece like there is a dragon in the room."
2.) "Do the piece as if it's freezing."
3.) "Do the piece like you just won a million dollars."
4.) Etc . . .

Body exercise example:
1.) Move around the room like you have a string pulling your nose.
2.) Move around the room like your shoes are filled with concrete.
3.) Move around the room like you're floating in the sky.
4.) Etc . . .

Voice exercise example:
1.) Say the piece as if you had peanut butter in your mouth.
2.) Say the piece like you have a very big secret to tell.
3.) Over enunciate each word and syllable as silly and slow as you can.
4.) Etc . . .

Following the warm up, we will dive in and begin exploring the piece the performer has brought in to work on. We will work together to highlight each learner's strengths and uniqueness by finding acting choices that suit the piece and themself as a performer.

學習目標

供應清單
If the learner chooses to bring a piece of text to work on please come with a text or monologue that can be performed. The monologue does not have to come from a play. It can be a poem, song, or from a book. It just has to be written with the intention of being performed. Feel free to be creative. Memorization is not required but is encouraged. Please provide a copy of the script we will be working with so that I can follow along as I give feedback.

It isn't required to come in with a prepared piece. We can work together to find something to work on!
