Student will improve their skills on their chosen instrument through warm-up exercises, etudes, practicing techniques, and help from an individual tutor. These goals will be adjusted throughout the classes to meet the specific needs of each learner.  

I am a K-12 certified music teacher with a license in two states. I currently teach middle school band for students in 5th-8th grades. I teach 15-minute individual lessons to 100 students a week during the school day, and I teach private band lessons after school hours. I can play all of the band instruments and I can help students with strategies from my Bachelor's Degree in Music Education as well as from my experience as a classroom band teacher. I have been teaching private lessons for the past 6 years to students ranging from 3rd grade to 12th grade and I have been doing virtual lessons for the past 2 years.

Practicing at least 15 minutes each day on your instrument is preferred for noticeable growth. While "homework" will not be checked, practice exercises will be send out and looked at in the next lesson.

The learner will be assessed informally each week and written reports will be sent out as requested by parents. Notes will be sent out as needed with any updates on practicing goals or learner achievements.

I have experience creating strategies for students with ADHD and Dyslexia through accomadations such as shorter lessons, breaks, and alternative ways to read/understand note names. I am happy to help create a support plan for your student.
