Welcome to Friendship Haven Online Learning! Do you have a play-dough loving, early learner in your house? This is the perfect class for them! Topics covered in class will follow kindergarten curriculum. The teacher plans for both beginner and advanced learners so each learner benefits from class. The only material required is play-dough. Your student is welcome to follow along without materials if they'd like to do so. Are you wondering how we can learn so much in one day? Example lesson plan that includes Science, ELA and Math: Theme: Colors * Science: Learners will complete a science experiment while learning to make a hypothesis, test the hypothesis and complete a conclusion. They will learn about primary and secondary colors by mixing primary colors using play-doh. English/ELA: The class will discuss beginning letters and sounds of primary colors. * Math: Learners and their teacher will create a graph using play-dough to represent our favorite colors. Extra: Each learner will receive an optional enrichment activity to complete after class. This class is learner-directed, so topics will be tailored to focus on our current interests! I will ensure each student gets a chance to speak and ask questions if they wish, as well as respecting anyone who may not feel comfortable doing so. I'm a firm believer that children do learn best when they're able to use their bodies to learn, as well as their minds! Topics will be customized based on each group's individual interests and needs. We will incorporate multiple subjects daily. The list below is a brief overview of our key focus but the class will include more learning concepts based on student interest. We will learn English Language Arts, Math, Science and Life Skills weekly. Let's learn together! Week of November 14: Colors Week of November 21: Elephants Week of November 28: Marsupials Week of December 5: Human Digestion Week of December 12: Solar System Week of December 19: The Human Brain Week of December 26: Germs Week of January 2: Mars

Hello, and welcome!
I'm Ms. Kathleen and I am so excited to meet you. I live in Nova Scotia, Canada with my family and all of our pets!
I have been working with children in many capacities for 22 years. I am currently pursuing my Child and Youth Degree, and have recently become certified as a Child Behaviour Specialist. I have completed many child development and psychology classes in my years of studies. I have owned and operated a private preschool childcare centre for 12 years, and it has been an amazing experience that I feel so honoured to have had. I have a passion for teaching, and believe that there is no greater joy than sharing knowledge with children and seeing them learn and grow together.
My classes will allow your child a chance to make new friends, ask questions, laugh, and most importantly-be excited about learning! I am so excited to have your learner along for this new experience with me, and I can't wait to get to know all of you!
