Experience: I have a BS in Mathematics and a Masters in Education. I have taught Basic Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra( Regular and Honors), Geometry(Regular and Honors) and Pre-Calculus. Pre-Calculus: This is an ongoing class for students who are at the Pre-Calculus level and we will meet twice a week which involves student interacting with the teacher and complete one or two weekly assignments/assessments. Since this is an ongoing class, you are welcome to join at any time and attend for as many weeks as you need. This offering will be good for homeschool students and for students who want to get extra help in specific concepts. There will be an ongoing update of what will be taught each week. I will be updating the outline often so as to keep parents informed of the concepts that will be taught. I will be offering this class on a Monday/Wednesday 12:00 pm central time schedule and also on a Tuesday/Thursday 11 am and 3pm central time schedule. Homeschool Parents: This course will continue the entire school year and will give your child an opportunity to earn credit for the Pre-calculus course. Please note that there will be a place where students will be assessed that you can access to assure your child is successful in the Pre-calculus course. In addition, students will have access to worksheets for homework assignments and answer keys to check their understanding that you can have them put into a binder for proper assessment of the course. Class Structure: I like to teach with the I do, we do, you do method of teaching. Each class I will introduce a topic, work on some examples, have students work examples with me, and then have students work on the examples by themselves to ensure understanding. Hopefully students will have an opportunity to start the assignment during class time and sometimes complete it during the class time. This will give students an opportunity to ask questions as needed. I will post notes and assignments as pdf files on the class page as needed. In addition, I will invite students to join a classroom through ck-12..org This is where I will assign some assignments and assessments. You will be able to access their reports to see their grades at any time. Here is an overview of concepts that will be learned: UNIT 1: Fundamental in Algebra UNIT 2: Functions and Graphs UNIT 3:Polynomials and Rational Functions UNIT 4: Exponential/Logarithm Functions UNIT 5: Trig Functions UNIT 6: Analytic Trig UNIT 7: Applications in Trig UNIT 8: Matrices Unit 9: Vectors Unit 10: Sequences and series s Weekly breakdown: (This will be updated as the school year progresses) Sept 9-12 Review of algebra concepts Sept 16-19 Graphs of functions Sept 23-26 Polynomial functions review Sept 30- Oct 3 Solve rational equations Oct7-11 Inverse Functions Oct 14-17 asymptotes Oct 21-24 Exponential review Oct 28-31 exponential equations Nov 4-7 Properties of Logarithms Nov 11-14 log equations Nov 18-21 piecewise functions Nov 25-28 holiday break Dec 2-5 Trig Basics Dec 9-12 Right Triangles using Trig Dec 16-19 Semester Review and Test Dec 20 -Jan 5 winter break Jan 6-9 area of triangles with trig Jan 13-16amplitude and vertical shift of a trig function Jan 20-23 frequency and period of a trig function Jan 27-30 matrices add and subtract feb 3-6 vectors feb 10-13 recursion/ arithmetic sequence feb 17-20 geometric sequence/sigma notation feb 24-27-factorial practice/permutations combinations mar 3-6 binomial theorem mar 10-13 reviews mar 17-20 spring break mar 24-27 calculus intro mar 31- apr 3 calculus intro apr7-10 calculus derivatives apr 14-17 calculus anti derivatives apr 23-24 domain and range of functions apr 28-may 1 derivation of triangle area formula may 5-8 semester review May 12-15 Semester Test review May 19-22 semester test
