I will provide examples on whole number operations- then the student will have an activity to complete to practice the skill. The four skills reviewed are in the syllabus. There should be prior knowledge of whole number operations before completing the four lessons. The reviews are short in order to give the student time to practice the skill.
4 lessons//4 Weeks
Week 1Lesson 1Addition using Math PropertiesStrengthen addition facts using the commutative and associative properties of addition.Week 2Lesson 2SubtractionPractice subtraction (some regrouping) with a drawing activity.Week 3Lesson 3Multiplication/AdditionPlay a Bingo game while practicing multiplication and addition of whole numbers.Week 4Lesson 4Finding MeanFind the mean of a set of numbers (some examples will have decimals).
- The student will review: -math properties -subtracting/regrouping -order of operations (multiplication/addition) -finding the mean of a set of numbers
With 25 years of teaching under my belt (in-person and virtual learning), I understand the importance of students strengthening and maintaining their math skills. For this course, I'll be incorporating games and fun activities to keep students motivated and engaged.
