In this class, learners will explore the properties of polymer clay in order to create a charm. They will explore form, texture, and color theory to create donuts. They will learn the process of working with polymer clay, from conditioning the clay to baking it. They will add details to finish their charms using different tools to add texture. Learners will explore the properties of polymer clay by creating two charms using various techniques to create texture and create colors.
I have been creating polymer clay jewelry and miniatures for over a decade. My approach is to show learners the basics and then let them add their own unique spin to it to create their own design. I find that students have great success through exploring the properties of a medium and then making creative choices in how to apply those properties artistically. I have taught art in a variety of settings to a wide range of ages for nearly 20 years with sculpture as a particular area of focus.

-Polymer clay (a variety of colors, including brown shades for chocolate)
-Various tools to add texture to the clay (these can be found around the house.)
- Headpins to create charms
-Sculpy glaze
-Liquid polymer clay (white or translucent)
-Chalk pastel
Optional:
-Nail art beads (various colors, can be used as sprinkles on the donut charms)
These materials can be found in craft stores or online at Amazon.comAfter class, learners will need to use a stove to bake their finished charms in order to complete them. Parents may wish to be available to assist with that.
