This is an ongoing course designed to critically analyze and discuss classic poetry. Age and national origin of the poems will vary, but all will be taught in the English Language. Poems will be read and discussed as a group. This will be a chance for students to expand on their critical thinking skills, and practice taking notes and speaking their ideas in front of a group. Learning goals include, but are not limited to: reading comprehension, note-taking, critical thinking and reasoning, and speaking/communication.
As an English Teacher, I have worked with war poetry before. Primarily because the imagery is so much more vivid and visceral, and they show a certain evolution in the view on warfare: ranging from glorification to horror, especially as mankind has grown (even verses from the Old Testament of the Bible contain scenes of battle).

One will never go amiss in any reading course by bringing, at a bare minimum, paper and a writing instrument.
