The students will learn how to use a place value chart to represent numbers.We will do this by first learning the vocabulary words: number, digit, groups and value. We will look at numbers and talk about the value of each digit in the number. We will use manipulatives to make numbers or draw pictures to make numbers on the place value chart. We will talk about hundreds, tens, and ones using the words digit, groups, and value. Students will answer questions about the numbers and the place value chart. Students will practice representing numbers on the place value chart using pictures or manipulatives. They will also answer questions about their number. We will also practice regrouping into the 10's place from the ones place. This will help prepare students for adding using a place value chart.
