Beginner - Advanced Level
The first lesson includes introduction to playing piano/keyboard such as how to sit at the piano, finger numbers, piano tones, and the keyboard. We will discuss right hand- and left-hand position, starting with the C position. We may discuss basic theory such as grand staff, time signature, rhythm, and repeat signs. Students will learn 5-finger warm-ups and basic chord structure. There will be an introduction to scales as well as broken and solid chords. I teach through the methods of Faber Piano Adventures. Students will have an understanding of where middle C is on the piano as well as note recognition. Beginner students will learn how to play nursery rhymes and simple melodies from any beginner sheet music or books. Intermediate students will continue to develop their skills while adapting new methods for improved technique. I like to keep my classes lighthearted. If there are any songs the student wishes to learn, we will have fun learning them. I look forward to making music with your child.
