每週 1-2 小時. Students will receive assignments/worksheets weekly that will reinforce what was learned in class. The worksheets will be completed on Nearpod using a link that I will provide. The students will NOT be required to login to Nearpod. The assignments/worksheets will provide them with instant feedback on their performance. I will receive a report of their performance once it is completed on the website. If there are parts of the assignments in which students are having trouble i will post additional information to clarify the topic.我們無法翻譯此文,請刷新頁面並再試一次。

This is not a live class. This is a flexible schedule class. Each week in this 5-week course students will view an interesting interactive presentation. The class will include recorded demonstrations. I will record the weekly experiments on camera and post them for the students to follow. The students will perform the experiments at home and can post pictures in the Outschool classroom of their final product. Throughout the lesson the learners progress will be assessed through interactive games, quizzes, and questions within the Nearpod presentation. Each week students will complete online activities/worksheets to further reinforce the topic for the week. These activities/worksheets will provide the student with instant feedback on their progress. Each homework activity will display a score on screen after completion. However, a grade report can be provided at the completion of this segment upon request. I will be available through Outschool messaging to offer help for any student that needs additional help. In addition, I will be checking the students progress on the activities and worksheets. If I feel that a topic needs more clarification I will post additional videos to further explain the subject. There is a free book that can be used along with this class CK-12 Physical Science for Middle School. This class will cover Unit 3 and 4. The book can be freely viewed at CK-12.org (https://flexbooks.ck12.org/cbook/ck-12-middle-school-physical-science-flexbook-2.0/) Topics Covered Week 1 Inside the Atom Week 2 History of the Atom & Modern Atomic Theory Week 3 How Elements are Organized Week 4 Classes of Elements Week 5 Groups of Elements After this 5 week course students will be able to: Compare and contrast protons, neutrons, and electrons. Describe the forces that hold the particles of atoms together. Define atomic number and mass number. Describe ions and isotopes Identify the particles called quarks State Democritus’s theory about the atom. Outline Dalton’s atomic theory. Explain how Thomson discovered electrons. Describe how Rutherford found the nucleus. Define energy levels. Describe the electron cloud and orbitals. Describe Mendeleev’s periodic table of the elements. Give an overview of the modern periodic table of the elements. Identify properties of metals. List properties of nonmetals. Describe metalloids. Relate valence electrons to reactivity of elements by class. Identify hydrogen and alkali metals. Describe alkaline Earth metals. List properties of transition metals. Identify groups containing metalloids. Give properties of halogens. Describe noble gases. This class follows the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) An additional class you maybe interested in: Physical Science for Middle School - Matter Unit (offered both live and flex)

學士學位 在 科學 從 Longwood College
Hi, I am very happy to have the opportunity to help your child learn and realize their full potential in Science. My classes are fun and exciting. Your Learners will learn all about Science while completing cool and fascinating experiments. In each class students will get the opportunity to perform fun but educational labs. They will learn how and why everything works. I'm a Chemist. I obtained a BS in Chemistry and Secondary Education with a minor in Computer Science from Longwood University. I have taught in the public school system teaching Chemistry and Mathematics on the High School level. In addition, I have taught Science classes on the Middle School level. I also teach ESL courses online. I also love crafting and cooking. I began learning to sew, knit, bake and cook at about 8 years old at home and in the 4-H club. Since College I have also fell in love with real estate, and have become a real estate investor. It's like real life monopoly. Real estate investing is fun and challenging all in one.
Currently I am a Chemist for the Department of Transportation. What I do enjoy most about my job with the DOT is when I get the opportunity to work with STEM students throughout the year. They visit and I get to show them all the cool stuff I do at work. I have always had a love for science and teaching. I would always find a way to do experiments and teach my dolls as a kid. I love teaching so much and can't wait to possibly inspire more future Scientist.
