ALL About The PHONICS for READING, WRITING, and SPELLING program:

Phonics for Reading, Writing, and Spelling is a comprehensive program encompassing reading, writing, spelling, and comprehension. This interactive, phonics-intensive program is steeped in the time-tested Spalding philosophy of reading. Students will learn systematically as phonograms are presented in order from simple to complex. Multi-sensory lessons are fast-paced and fun! Students will learn and grow with our original characters Jojo and Jake as they follow them through a series of 45 all-original stories.

Engaging characters, thoughtful stories, and smooth continuity of lessons make Phonics for Reading, Writing, and Spelling highly effective for all learning styles!

If you're looking to build great readers and inspire a love of reading.... you've come to the right place!

LEVEL C - CLASS OVERVIEW

This ongoing reading class is "jam-packed" with phonics instruction and fun as it follows the adventures of a cute little sister and brother named JoJo and Jake. Feel free to jump in at any time as concepts are continually practiced and reinforced. Although each week "features" a different sound, all the sounds contained in this unit of study are utilized and reinforced throughout.

Students will practice and solidify new sounds through reading and interactive activities. We will follow JoJo and Jake as they have all kinds of adventures. Classes are fun, colorful, and packed with practice. My teaching style is welcoming, kind, and patient, so students always feel right at home. Each child will have ample opportunity to interact within the classroom. Students are sure to enjoy getting to know JoJo and Jake as they take one more step toward becoming independent readers.

Expectations for In-Class Sound Quality and Muting

I will always encourage all students to participate in the class experience.
My desire is to have students unmuted as much as possible. It creates an ease of interacting and answering questions without spend time muting and unmuting. In order for this to take place, it is important to have your student situated in a quiet place that is free from background noise such as television, radio, phone calls, or conversations. Basic Rule of Thumb: If you can hear it....so can the entire class.

I will sometimes mute students, but I will also call on them for answers and thoughts, so every child needs to know how to unmute. I do not have the ability to unmute students from my end. Please, show your child how to unmute when asked to do so.

I realize that there are times when you may need to mute your own child for privacy reasons or due to unavoidable background noise, so please feel free to use your discretion in these circumstances.

Working together, we can attain great sound quality for all the students!

My name is Cherie Steele. I am a graduate of Penn State University, and I am trained in the teaching of Intensive Phonics. I hold both TESOL and TEFL certifications. In addition, I have a strong background in music, having completed 3 years of study in music and vocal performance at JDF Records in Nashville, TN. I have twenty years of experience as a curriculum author and teacher. I am also the mother of five fabulous kids, all of whom I have completely homeschooled.

For the past twenty years, one of my great loves has been teaching language arts. Reading, writing, grammar, literature, and poetry are my passions. From ensuring that young students have a firm foundation in phonics to training older students to become great writers, it is my goal to establish a love of language arts in children.

I invite you to look over the parent reviews regarding the efficacy of the Phonics for Reading, Writing, and Spelling Curriculum and the teaching methods used in my classroom.

Your student will feel right at home in my classroom. I am a patient teacher, and I love to bring out smiles and a feeling of accomplishment. My goal is simple...lay solid foundations and build upon them with quality material.

I am excited to meet your student.

See you in class! :)

Ms. Cherie
