Being able to communicate and express oneself well is a very important life skill. Practicing writing persuasive paragraphs can help a student learn how to clearly explain his or her beliefs and present his or her argument in a polite and concise way. In this Roblox themed writing class, students will work to each write his or her own persuasive paragraph about which Roblox game they think is the best to play and why. Through the use of a Google slides presentation, students will review the essential parts of writing any effective persuasive paragraph. The teacher will then lead the students step-by step to help them apply this knowledge and write his or her own paragraph. A choice of graphic organizers will be provided for the students if they wish to print one out and fill it in as we move through class. Students will be invited to share their writing with the class at the end of the lesson, but this is not required. Paper and a pen or pencil will be required for this class. *Please note: This is a Roblox themed writing class. Students will NOT be playing the actual game of Roblox during the lesson.*

Students will be able to identify the essential parts of a persuasive paragraph. Students will be able to write a paragraph which reflects their own opinion on a topic and includes a topic sentence, supporting details, and a conclusion.

Hi there! My name is Maura Cohen. I have a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and just about twenty years teaching experience, in both traditional classrooms and online teaching environments. I have taught children of all ages, from preschool through high school. I was a certified public school teacher for years in both second and fourth grade before staying home to teach and raise my own three children. In recent years, I discovered online teaching and I have loved the flexibility it provides ever since. I am a very friendly, energetic teacher who loves to have fun while helping my students get excited about working together and discovering new things. I love to teach and I love to travel. I have been to many European countries, and I have lived for several years in both Japan and Italy. When I am not in the classroom or traveling, I love spending time with my daughter and two sons, reading, making crafts, and eating my husband's amazing food.
