In this 4 week flexible schedule class we will learn about 4 different artists (Monet, Matisse, Van Gogh and Kandinsky) and create art pieces that are inspired by their work. We will talk about their genre of art, create pieces to be proud of, and learn about the artists through interactive games and scavenger hunts. Week 1Lesson 1Claude MonetThis week, we're meeting Claude Monet, the father of Impressionism! Explore his life and famous painting, "The Japanese Bridge." Then, create your own colorful bridge scene using crayons and watercolors.Week 2Lesson 2Henri MatisseThis week, we're all about Henri Matisse, a master of color and Fauvism! Explore his life, vibrant art, and "The Goldfish" masterpiece. Then, create your own colorful masterpiece with crayons and watercolors. We'll learn how Matisse used color in a whole new way!Week 3Lesson 3Vincent Van GoghThis week, we're meeting Vincent van Gogh, a colorful Post-Impressionist artist! Explore his bold style and Starry Night masterpiece. Then, create your own starry scene with crayons and watercolors.Week 4Lesson 4Wassily KandinskyThis week, we're diving into the world of Wassily Kandinsky, a Russian artist who saw music in colors! Explore how music influenced his abstract masterpieces and what makes abstract art so special. Then, get ready to create your own colorful composition inspired by Kandinsky's "Red, Yellow, Blue" using markers, watercolors, and crayons.
Each learner will need: - A watercolor set - A brush (any size will do) - A cup with water to clean the brush - Set of crayons (or oil pastels) - Heavy white paper (watercolor paper is preferred but not completely necessary) - Table protection (newspaper, butcher paper etc). - Sharpie marker (for the Kandinsky lesson) - Smock or old t-shirt to keep the paints off of your child's clothing
Parents are encouraged to be close by during the classes to help their learner with the painting process to minimize spills (especially with electronics close by!) and to make sure their paints and markers stay on the paper.
