Follows Orton-Gillingham Curriculum
While research shows that all students learn best through multi-sensory instruction, it is especially useful for students with dyslexia. By using their five senses to create, discuss, and hear sounds, students will be able to engrave various phonics patterns into memory. Week 1Lesson 1IntroductionThe first lesson is an overview for parents explaining how the class will be taught.Lesson 2CVCStudents will read and spell words with a CVC (consonant -vowel-consonant) pattern, such as dog and bat.Lesson 3Magic EStudents will read and spell words with a CVCe (consonant-vowel-consonant-e) pattern, such as bake and bike.Week 2Lesson 4L BlendsStudents will read and spell words with beginning l blends, such as flag and clap.Lesson 5R BlendsStudents will read and spell words with beginning r blends, such as brag and crib.Week 3Lesson 6SHStudents will read and spell words with the /sh/ sound, such as fish and ship.Lesson 7CHStudents will read and spell words with the /ch/ sound, such as chat and chip.Week 4Lesson 8THStudents will read and spell words with the /th/ sound, such as bath and thud.Lesson 9WHStudents will read and spell words with the /wh/ sound, such as whip and whale.Week 5Lesson 10Sensory BagsThis is a mini lesson on how to make a sensory bag to use for spelling practice. I have a bachelors degree in elementary education and a masters degree in reading education. I also have obtained my 60 hours of training in Orton Gillingham training. I resigned from my position as a reading coach at a local public school to homeschool my son with severe dyslexia.

Students should have white board, dry erase marker, and eraser (or paper/pencil) when watching the videos. Each week a different material will be used in the video to facilitate multi-sensory practice. The materials will be posted prior to the video so the student can use the same material while watching the video.
