Learners will practice answer comprehension questions about a text by finding evidence within a text.

Writing Skill and Introduction to Writing Project
Learners will practice using the because...but...so strategy for sentence expansion and begin brainstorming this semester's writing project.

Learners will practice previously-learned morphemes and the new prefix en- (and its assimilation em-).
Lesson 5
Fluency Skill--Phrase Scooping
Learners will practice "phrase scooping" to increase reading fluency
Lesson 6
Writing Skill: Sentence Types and Writing Project: Plan
Learners will learn about and practice distinguishing main sentence types: interrogative, declarative, imperative, exclamatory. Learners will begin planning their biographical writing project.

Number Prefixes
Learners will explore Greek and Latin number prefixes.
Lesson 8
Vocabulary Skill: Number Prefixes
Learners will solve prefix riddles to practice various Greek and Latin number prefixes.
Lesson 9
Writing Skill: Appositives (Writing Project: Draft)
Learners will practice identifying and using appositives to add additional information to sentences. Learners will also draft their biographical writing project.

Learners will practice "Partner Poems."

Learners will use a scrambled sentences activity to practice constructing complete sentences and revise their biographical writing project.

Learners will be introduced to the Latin Base ven(t) ven(i)
Lesson 14
Vocabulary Skill: Antonym Scales
Learners will practice using antonym scales to discover shades of meaning in vocabulary.
Lesson 15
Writing Skill: Combining Sentences (Writing Project: Edit)
Learners will practice combining sentences for writing clarity and begin editing their final writing project.

Greek Bases: Biblio, Chrono
Learners will be introduced to the Greek bases biblio and chrono
Lesson 17
Vocabulary: Introduction to Structured Word Inquiry
Learners will be introduced to Structured Word Inquiry, an approach for exploring the meaning and spelling of new words.

Sharing Our Final Writing Projects
Learners will present their final writing project to the class.
