This is a fun way to learn about what life was like on the Oregon Trail in th emid-1800s. In this class, learners will participate in a simulation (that I created) and pretend as though we are in a wagon train heading west. We will "begin" in Independence, Missouri, and along the way they will see pictures of the natural geography that they would have seen (if actually traveling on the trail). Students will be asked to "roll the dice" to determine results- such as a broken wheel, loss of...

I have a BA in Political Science, a MA in secondary teaching certification in all social subjects 5-12 and a post-Masters degree in educational technology to enhance learning. I've taught social studies subjects for 10+ years, with a majority of my experiences teaching American History. I've also attended several workshops and professional development opportunities focused on incorporating America's past in current discussions about today's landmarks, historic buildings and monuments.

Optional homework (at the discretion of the parent) Keep notes during the simulation, with details along the trail, and complete one option below: -After the simulation, once you've reached the destination, write a letter to someone from where you used to live, and either persuade them to make the journey or caution them against making the journey. Include specifics regarding what was "experienced" along the trail. -Provide 7+ hashtags that would describe the journey through the Oregon Trail.提供的評估
