In this private tutoring session, I will use a structured literacy approach to teach students to read. I have many different approaches and ideas I like to use to help kids out. With my youngest prospective readers, I focus on engaging visuals and the recognition of shapes. This is important, as when kids read, they memorize the letters by their shape. I also make sure to incorporate kinesthetic learning so that kids have a better chance of remembering details such as letter sounds. For instance, I teach students to use their hands when reading. I sing songs to remember certain letters or teach the vowels. Kids think I am goofy and fun, but they are also getting a lot of my tutoring sessions. Movement is good for young kids, as it gets their wiggles out and helps them to move the information into their memory. The topics I will be covering are unlimited, but a few examples are listed below.

My teaching style is very gentle and patient. Learning is a precious thing for young kids and  the best thing you can do is keep their journey positive. This is how they develop a strong love for learning.
