Hello ukulele beginners!

This is a private and personalized ongoing class for absolute beginners who have little to no experience with the ukulele. During our first lesson, we will go over some terminology and string names to become familiar with the instrument. After that, we will learn basic chords and add more chords to your repertoire as you are comfortable. I will frequently check in with you to see how comfortable you feel with a new chord, provide some tips for how it could feel better, and also ask your interest in song options. I do take your wishes into account. Every week, we will work on a song and review an old song.

I believe that learning is more engaging when you have a say in what you want to learn. I have many covers of fun songs we can work on, and if you’d like, you can request songs to practice. I will do my best to find a cover of the song with the appropriate skill level.

This class is focused on having fun learning a new instrument. I don’t assign homework. I believe that learning an instrument is more fun when one gets to choose when to practice, instead of feeling obligated to practice on a set schedule.

My teaching style is chill and relaxed. The two most common words parents use in reviews are "patient" and "kind."
