課堂經歷
Join us weekly as we try new improv games and work to build an ensemble and work together to support each other onstage. Class will always begin with an ice breaker to encourage students to feel like they are part of our ensemble and not alone. We'll learn some fun improv warm-up game to get us thinking on our feet and laying the foundation for skills we'll need later in class. These will be a games that students can continue to play with family and friends outside of class. We'll then build on our skills and jump into some short form improvisation games. We'll take games step by step and challenge students where they are in their improv journey. PLEASE NOTE: This is an ongoing class. Games will be determined week to week based on different goals - "yes, and", character, object work, storytelling, etc. All games will be accessible to new and returning students alike. The game-based cooperative techniques of improvisation engages the imagination, promotes problem-solving, teaches communication, and nurtures self expression in a structured and positive way - all while kids are having a blast!
學習目標
Students will get to jump into the fun world of improvisation and learn how "yes, and" can add to a theatrical world of possibilities. Students will walk away with games that they can play later with friends and family both on zoom and in person.

I am back from hiking the Appalachian Trail! I am opening up my teaching schedule and up to schedule requests (and class requests). In January, I begin a MFA in children's book writing but will be able to continue teaching.
I am a theater educator and artist based in Chicago, IL. I am the founder and director of Storytown, a fully improvised, interactive adventure for kids. Through Storytown, we work to cultivate creativity and arts appreciation while audiences to story structure and problem solving.
I graduated from Towson University with BA in Theater Arts and then moved to Chicago to study improvisation. I studied at the iO and Second City. I have performed around Chicago with iO, Second City's Skybox Theater, Moving Dock Theater Company, Redtwist Theatre, and WNEP with Seven Deadly Plays and 365 Sketches.
I focus on improvisation because it teaches students to express themselves while being big and bold. When we fail, we fail greatly and get right back up and try again. My goal is not to train students to be actors when they grow up, but rather to make them better humans. I focus on "yes, and" and ensemble building. I believe we're better when we support each other and work as a team.
I live in Chicago with my cat Sonny and my husband. We love hiking and camping when we can. Not Sonny, but she does like laying outside on our balcony.
