Welcome to the first ongoing veterinary escape room course on the Outschool platform! There are many other animal escape rooms but I decided to create this class specifically for children who think they may want to eventually work with animals professionally one day: veterinarians, vet technicians and assistants, zoo keepers, and more! In vet school, vet students do not begin by choosing their animal species to learn. Instead, they learn them all! So this class is beneficial for all students considering the profession one day. This class is meant to be interactive and students should arrive to class prepared to participate. This class has fewer students than my other classes to allow students to have ample time to participate and be included. The class will function in this order: 5 minutes: Introductions and welcoming of all new students 10-15 minutes of instruction 15-20 minutes: Teacher-Led Escape Room Remaining: Ending class, final questions, and goodbyes What do I mean by "Teacher-Led" escape rooms? Students will receive new information about animal diseases, research, vet professions or the industry, etc during lecture. There are no week-by-week lecture topics listed because students will help create future classes and the escape room themes are always veterinary care. The photo to escape from will change weekly as will the questions and clues. Students do not need a secondary device to participate. * PLEASE NOTE * Outschool and the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) are very specific about guidelines and rules for diagnosing, treating, and prescribing. I am not a licensed Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and even if I was, Outschool is very specific about rules for this during class. For students who inquire about live animals and pets they own, I will always recommend them see a local vet. Students will not be diagnosing, treating, or prescribing medications for their real animals. Many students enrolling in this course have completed the 18-week Ongoing Course as well but it is not required: It is found here (10-12 year olds): https://outschool.com/classes/biology-veterinarian-club-wild-and-domesticated-animals-UOiCzuiy#usSwirNx6I or here (13+ year olds): https://outschool.com/classes/biology-veterinarian-club-wild-and-domesticated-animals-YYDdEfB5#usSwirNx6I Current Topics and Weeks Include: Week of 6/16/24: Poultry - HPAI Week of 6/23/24: Reptiles - Vit A Deficiency Week of 6/30/24: Pandas - Care of Giant Pandas in a Zoo Week of 7/7/24: Dogs and Cats - IMHA Week of 7/14/24: Bovine - Bleeding Calf Syndrome Week of 7/21/24: Dogs - Skin Cancer in Dogs Week of 7/28/24: Dogs - Parvovirus Week of 8/4/24: Cows - Bovine Mastitis (Saturday: Laminitis) Week of 8/11/24 Reptiles - Metabolic Bone Disease Week of 8/18/24: Dogs - Dilated Cardiomyopathy Week of 8/25/24: All Animals - Parasites Week of 9/1/24: Equine - Laminitis Week of 9/8/24: Reptiles - Cryptosporidiosis Week of 9/15/24: Horses - Strangles Week of 9/22/24: Horses - Overo Color Genetics Week of 9/29/24: Dogs - Parvo Virus Week of 10/6/24: Birds - Psittacine Beak & Feather Week of 10/13/24: Otters - Toxoplasmosis Week of 10/20/24: Horses - Shivers Week of 10/29/24: Owls - Birds of Prey Week of 11/3/24: Mammals - Lyssa Viruses Week of 11/10/24: Snakes - Pit Vipers and Scale Rot Week of 11/17/24: Felines - Feline Obesity Week of 11/24/24: Mammals (Dogs/Horses/Hamsters) - Cushings Week of 12/1/24: Hamsters - General Care & Sickness Canine - Heartworm Feline - Hyperthermia Equine - Encephalomyelitis Dogs - Head Tilt Dogs - Obesity Dogs Dogs - Gastric Dilation and Volvulus (GDV) Reptiles - Abscesses Feline - Distemper in Wild Cats Birds - Bumblefoot Equine - Colic Dogs/Mammals - Leptospirosis Feline - Lower Urinary Tract Disorders Bovine - Mastitis Reptiles - Vit A Deficiency Dogs/Cats - IMHA Birds - HPAI Animals - Parasites Owls - Birds of Prey Bovine - Bleeding Calf Syndrome Dogs - Skin Cancer in Dogs Mammal - Rabbit Medical Aide Reptile - Ball Pythons Reptiles - Metabolic Bone Disease Dogs - Dilated Cardiomyopathy Sugar Gliders - Health Mammals - Lyssa Viruses Snakes - Pit Vipers and Scale Rot Giant Pandas - Health Dogs - Parvovirus Otters - Toxoplasmosis Hamsters - Health Equines - PHF in Horses Birds - Proventricular Dilation Disease Geckos - Impaction Horses - Laminitis Reptiles - Cryptosporidiosis Horses - Strangles Horses - Overo Coloration Birds - Psittacine Beak & Feather Horses - Shivers Felines - Feline Obesity Mammals (Dogs/Horses/Hamsters) - Cushings ** Student requests for ongoing topics are always accepted. 學習目標
At the end of each class, students should understand a new concept, virus, bacteria, procedure, medication, skill, etc. that veterinarians and veterinary professionals perform.

父母的引導和規範
There is nothing inappropriate and we do not talk about animal reproduction. However, pee, poop, puke, and farts are common everyday topics in the vet world and will be talked about time and time again. We use veterinary appropriate language such as rectum, uterus, colon, etc. When reproduction questions arise, I often respond, "We don't cover those topics in this particular class, but you can have your parent contact me via message after class and I'm happy to help"
供應清單
