課堂經歷
This is an ongoing class where students can create teams with familiar students to enhance their debate skills. Each class will compound on each of the previous classes. Students will learn to give persuasive arguments for and against a specific topic. Students will form pairs or small group that may change from week to week depending on the stance of the student. Students should have already enrolled in at least one class of Debate This, Debate That - Interactive Class I There will be a time allotted for the small groups to get together and form their stance on the main topic for the debate. The teacher will call out a topic (e.g. ‘Cats are better than dogs’) and ask students to pick to the side (cats or dogs) that corresponds to their belief. Anyone who is unsure should remain neutral. Once students have chosen a side, the teacher will ask them to explain why they have chosen that side. The students will have to discuss this with others standing near them before feeding back to the whole class. Students who are neutral can also explain why they have taken that position, or act as “judges”, moving once they have been persuaded by either side. Then, the students will be ready to argue their point of view. For example: the first debate: Where do you stand on school uniforms versus no school uniforms? The teacher will allocate the breakout rooms for those students “uniform” side and another breakout room as the “no uniform” side. Once students have chosen a side, they will explain why they have chosen that side. The students will be required to persuade why their chosen animal is the best animal. In addition, the students should have arguments against the opposite topic. For example, for those students who have chosen "dogs" are the superior animal, should have some ideas why "cats" are not superior for an effective argument. Students who are neutral can also explain why they have taken that position, or act as “judges”, moving once they have been persuaded by either side. Each week, students will work together to form debates in various topics. The goal is for the students to have a familiar group of students in the class, working as teams, to create their arguments. The debate tactics will be able to be refined through the use of timed arguments and fact based arguments. No topic will be political, religious, or result in any major controversial topics. This class is designed to be lighthearted and fun.

Hello. My name is Teacher Tanya.
Greetings,
I am Teacher Tanya, a dedicated educator with a rich personal and professional background.
In my personal life, I fulfill roles as a devoted wife, a mother to nine children, a grandmother to sixteen grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Teaching, reading, and traveling in my RV are my passions.
Central to my philosophy is the belief that continuous learning is essential for personal growth. I advocate for acquiring new knowledge daily to enrich our lives. As an educator, I employ the 5 E's approach—Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, and Evaluate—while also emphasizing the importance of "Extend" in teaching.
Regarding my education and experience, I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Child Development and have pursued extensive coursework towards a Master's Degree in Education: Curriculum and Instruction. Additionally, I possess a Master's Degree in Business Administration. Call me crazy, but I am currently working on a Doctorate is Education: Organizational Leadership.
With fifteen years of experience owning and operating state-licensed and accredited preschool, childcare, and school-age centers, I have a solid foundation in education. I have, also, served as a substitute teacher for middle and high school students, including fulfilling long-term positions in core academic subjects.
Having dedicated over 25 years to working with children in both classroom settings and extracurricular activities, I have taught a diverse range of subjects such as English, Reading, History, Math, Science, and ESL, to students with diverse abilities.
I appreciate your time in reviewing my profile and consider it an honor. I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to meet your child and your family.
Thank you.
