課堂經歷

This is a learner-driven self-paced class for instrumental music.

Learners might choose to take this week-long class because:

🎵 They cannot attend their regular 1:1 class and are unable to schedule a make-up time with their teacher, but they don't want to miss a week of learning!

♪ They have a specific question about a playing skill, technique, or song and want focused, supplemental instruction.

🎵 They are interested in "meeting" a teacher through the self-paced format to get more comfortable and familiar before trying a live 1:1 lesson.

Learners will receive encouraging feedback and personalized responses when they contact the teacher to share their questions and playing progress.

Here's what to expect:

Learners will watch the welcome video in Lesson 1, which has specific details about how to get in touch with their teacher and share what they want to learn on their instrument.

Learners will then receive a friendly, personalized video reply from their teacher, usually within 24-48 hours. This will be a 10-15 minute video lesson with specific pointers and instruction personalized to the learner and based on their input. From there, the learner can chose to practice on their own, or send a video to their teacher for feedback, encouragement, and steps to continue learning. Teachers will also reply to written questions, posts, and Outschool messages as needed.

The whole lesson process will be equivalent instruction to a weekly 1:1 lesson, all done asynchronously, on the learner's schedule.
學習目標
Students will continue learning when they have to miss a weekly 1:1 lesson. Students will experience a personalized video lesson that will help them improve on their instrument.

Welcome to SRS Music & STEAM! Our mission is to bring the wonder of music to your learners. Our curriculum focuses on developing a joy for music and enjoyment of your instrument. We also share connections between music and STEAM concepts including computer science, design thinking, math, and more!

Curriculum is individualized and learner-driven. This means that we work with parents and learners to select music genres and skills that will keep our students interested and help them meet their goals. We hope to foster lifelong learning and enjoyment of playing your instrument.

We offer 1:1 private instruction for beginning-advanced violin, fiddle, viola, cello, guitar, banjo, mandolin, and piano students. For beginners, we focus on developing good posture, playing technique, and tone. Listening and playing by ear is as important as learning to sight read. Over time, we introduce music theory and reading at the learner's pace. This comes from a combination of classical techniques and fiddle tunes. Our advanced learners enjoy setting their own playing and practice goals, building repertoire, and developing advanced playing techniques.

Music is a social activity too! We offer group classes for beginners through advancing players and themed classes for music appreciation, fiddle, or seasonal tunes. We also offer classes that incorporate music and science or coding concepts. Our group classes are 6 or fewer learners at a time. This gives everyone plenty of teacher attention and a chance to interact. Our learners love building a community of like-minded musicians.
