I will show your learner how to think in 3 dimensions to create interesting voxel art, and in 2 dimensions to create interesting pixel art. In a typical class, I'll identify interests that your learner has and find pictures on google's image search. I will use GIMP to create a pixelized version of the picture. I will share my screen and overlay the picture so that your learner can see me, the picture and my screen. I will show them how to paint the picture in Minecraft with various blocks to...
-Thinking creatively in two and three dimensions. -Understanding color in Minecraft -Understanding textures in Minecraft -Creatively thinking of color conflict solutions, for example when a color in the source material does not have a corresponding color in Minecraft what do you do? - Basic understanding of what is a "voxel" and what is a "pixel" - Basic understanding of math in 3 dimensions, what is an "axis" - If your learner is interested (not the parents, the learner!) I can show how programming can be used to help make art.
I have a master's degree in computer science and a bachelor's degree in applied mathematics. I am also a CASA, and comfortable working with kids from a wide variety of backgrounds.
