每週 1-2 小時. Students will be given weekly exercises that should become a regular part of their daily practice regimen. Each week students will begin with a warm up of previous exercises to demonstrate their understanding and progress on the exercise before moving on to more. Students will also be recommended various listening materials designed to expand their knowledge and inspire them to get into a diverse range of music appreciation.評估

One on one lessons for drum set. Lessons will be tailored specifically to the experience level and ability of each student and will focus on their preferences for learning. Students should already have some experience and familiarity with playing the drums. Lessons are very interactive and fun. Each lesson will begin with some focused warm ups that will introduce various hand patterns and rudiments to the student. Different combinations of these will improve ability to read drum notation and increase dexterity and control over the sticks while also building the vocabulary and language of the drums. Similar to scales and arpeggios for piano. These patterns will then be placed in context with beats/grooves to illustrate how they can be used practically and musically. Students can choose songs that they are interested in learning and these concepts can be placed in the context of those songs as well for further internalization. Lessons will evolve continuously and are fluid, depending on the progress and needs of each student.

Students will improve all of the necessary elements required to become fluent in performance on the drums. Topics will range from physical technique using specific rudimental combinations for the hands and feet to strengthen coordination and control of the instrument, playing beats and grooves of a wide range of styles to develop an understanding and appreciation for the role of the drums in different types of music and to strengthen the students inner feel for the consistency of pulse that drums must provide, learning how to count and read drum notation and getting into rhythm theory to understand the subdivisions of the beat including quarter notes, eighth notes, sixteenth notes and triplets, listening to songs with an aim to learning the drum parts by ear to strengthen the ability to quickly pick up and absorb new material. Students will gain confidence and have fun becoming better drummers!

Hi, I'm Chris Wallace and i'm here to inspire young drummers to challenge themselves and reach their goals on the drums and beyond! I am offering one-on-one lessons for students between the ages of 12 and 18. These are half hour slots where we will explore all the aspects of making music on the drum set. From playing simple beats, grooves and fills to exploring specific songs - from rhythm theory and reading drum notation to rudiments and physical technique, we will cover it all in a relaxed, fun and friendly atmosphere. I also am teaching an eight week in-depth course for 14 - 18 year olds called "Music Listening and Appreciation from the Perspective of the Drums - Jazz to Rock and Beyond". This course is a chronological journey exploring the role and importance of the drum set in the evolution and development of popular music over the last 100 years! Each week we look at a specific era of music, listening to select pieces and focusing in on the drums and drummers of the time, moving through history up to the present day. Students will learn to hone their listening skills and they will gain an appreciation for a wide range of musical styles and hopefully they will feel a deeper appreciation for the versatility and creative nature of the drum set!
I am a self-taught musician so I have a deep appreciation of the fact that each individual is unique, and no two students may learn the same information in the same way. With this in mind I always pay close attention to the personalities and feeling I get from the student. I like to craft my lessons differently for each person, striving to get them the best experience that's unique to them and that will fulfill their needs. So I don't teach to a rigid curriculum. I guess with my teaching style we "go with the flow" and the students will guide where, and how I take them down the river. I love seeing young people "get it" and start to feel the fire building inside of them for playing. It's a real buzz to pass on that passion that I've always felt since I was young.
On a personal note: my wife and I are gardening fanatics and we love growing as much of our own food as we can, which can be pretty challenging up here in Canada where we have 3 feet of snow for half the year! 評論
