🎄🎄🎄 In this one time story and "cooking" class, the students will create an edible Christmas tree and get into the holiday spirit. Class will begin with a fiction story called Llama Llama Holiday Drama by Anna Dewdney. We will discuss the events of the story as it is read as well as make text to self connections. The students will then follow step by step instructions to "frost" their tree trying out different swirls and twirls. They will then decorate their tree with a variety of candies. The students will be encouraged to share and talk about their beautifully decorated trees with the other students, if they feel comfortable doing so. The best part of the class will be eating the yummy tree. Oh, Christmas tree! 🎄🎄🎄 *If you would like your child to connect online with friends, cousins, neighbors, or friends who live far away, this would be a great class for your child to meet with these friends and have a tree frosting party. Send me a message and I can be sure there is room for all of your child's friends to be a part of the yummy tree decorating party.

Hi! Welcome to my Outschool classroom.
My name is Betty Nilssen. 💕
I have a BS in Elementary Education with a minor in Spanish from UW-Milwaukee. I am a first grade teacher, but I have also taught second, third and fourth grade, full inclusive classrooms. My teaching license certifies me to teach grades 1~6. My passion for teaching reading while incorporating phonics, phonemic awareness, rhyming, comprehension, fluency, vocabulary, science, social studies, math, drawing and writing helps children strengthen their academic skills while they gain academic confidence and a love of learning. Teaching reading is my super power. I can support your young learner.
I have three adult daughters and two of them are teachers. My mom was also an educator.
There are so many books to read, words and sentences to write, math equations to solve and fiction and non fiction pictures to draw and label. Let's get started!
