Some name calling may be offensive to some people so please take that into consideration and addressing it with your child.
The kids make some poor choices in this book. They take a ferry to another town without telling anyone and give out personal details to strangers. Both these things should be discussed with your child so they know your views about it.
This book is also not historically correct about the Mayflower because it is a fictional book for kids. Please do not use this book to teach about the history of the Mayflower but instead use it for its intended purpose to entertain kids.

Hey there! I'm excited to share that I have a Master's Degree in Elementary Education and spent a wonderful 10 years teaching in a public school. I had the pleasure of teaching 6th grade for 5 years and then taught in a 3rd grade classroom for the last 5 years. In my classes, I used small groups and tailored instruction to meet the diverse needs of my students.
I'm really passionate about encouraging reading for fun and for learning. I truly believe that when students have a solid foundation in reading, learning becomes a whole lot easier. And you know what? Math has now become my new favorite subject to teach! I love coming up with different ways to help struggling learners and to challenge those who are stronger in math. I firmly believe that by making math and reading enjoyable, we can inspire a love for learning that lasts a lifetime.
On top of that, I'm also incredibly fortunate to be able to stay at home with my amazing 5-year-old triplets every day. They are an absolute joy!
